Outdoor Learning
At The Cypress School, we believe some of the richest learning happens beyond the classroom walls. Our Outdoor Learning program encourages children to explore, create, observe, wonder, and engage deeply with the natural world around them. Through nature walks, gardening, hands-on discovery, outdoor play, STEM exploration, and seasonal learning experiences, students develop curiosity, confidence, problem-solving skills, and a greater appreciation for God’s creation.
A special part of our outdoor program is our Nature & Discovery Yard — a space intentionally designed to inspire imaginative play, exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning. Students engage with loose parts, building materials, sensory experiences, nature-based investigations, and collaborative play opportunities that encourage innovation and discovery. The Nature & Discovery Yard serves as an extension of the classroom, allowing children to learn through movement, experimentation, observation, and joyful exploration in a meaningful and developmentally rich environment.
Outdoor learning at Cypress is intentionally woven into our school culture, providing children with opportunities to move, imagine, collaborate, and experience joyful, meaningful learning in every season.
