Language-
At The Cypress School, we utilize a balanced literacy program when teaching our students how to read. Each day children listen to fiction and non-fiction literature. Students are inspired by beloved authors and books to develop a love of reading.
Each day students spend time learning phonics skills, playing language games in small groups, and reading. They also will be introduced to sight words and practice them in hands-on, active ways.
At The Cypress School we use a combination of curriculums to round out our language program. Students practice handwriting with Handwriting Without Tears materials and Zaner-Bloser handwriting curriculum, use Fundations and the Phonics Dance to master phonics skills, and participate in a reader's workshop model to become strong, fluent, confident readers.
Math-
"How long is this stuffed animal? Let me measure him using our inch worms!"
Using manipulatives and hands-on materials are essential for young learners to grasp the foundational number sense skills required for higher levels of math. In kindergarten at The Cypress School students will actively engage in Singapore Math lessons that encourage them to use mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and master concepts of math well beyond kindergarten standards.
Daily students will actively participate in lessons that encourage them to think about math in many ways. They will develop number sense that will help them conceptualize numbers and value.
Students develop a true love for math when it is hands-on and fun!
Science and Social Studies-
Children are naturally curious and want to know the "hows," "whys," and "whats" of the world. At The Cypress School, we use these natural wonders to dive deep into topics and themes that students love! In science, students will learn about topics such as the solar system, weather, community, dinosaurs, garden life, life cycles, animals across the globe, insects, different cultures, and many other areas of interest. We also utilize an inquiry based approach to dive deep and learn more about the topics our students show interest in.
Hands-on Learning
Learning at The Cypress School is never boring! We believe that learning should be active, fun, and engaging! Our young learners LOVE coming to school and sharing what they are learning about at home and with friends!

Tuition Rates:
Children need to be five by Sept. 1, 2024 in order to enroll in our kindergarten program.
For kindergarten we offer a half-day and a full-day option. Our half-day program is from 8:45-12:00 and the full school day is from 8:45-2:30. Children can be dropped off as early as 8:15.
5 half days per week: $7980 | full day rate: $8580
Please note that every Friday is always a half-day.
(These are yearly rates. Parents have four options when paying tuition: a 10 month plan, a 12 month plan, paying two times a year, or paying in full.)
